DripDropz Governance Dev, Adam Dean Claims Cardano Summit CIP Award
Big congratulations to our own Adam Dean for winning the Cardano Improvement Proposal (CIP) Award at last week's Cardano Summit in Dubai! This award recognizes Adam's significant contributions to enhancing the Cardano protocol through authoring impactful CIPs.
Specifically, Adam was honored for penning CIP-0027 on smart contract royalty addresses and co-authoring CIP-0083 on encrypted transaction metadata. Both proposals offer key improvements that will increase adoption - from supporting artists through royalties to enabling greater privacy for users.
Adam's creative thinking and technical expertise continue to move the Cardano ecosystem forward. We're so proud to have him driving innovation here at DripDropz as our Governance Developer. Huge thanks to the Cardano Foundation for recognizing Adam's stellar work. Well deserved!
DripDropz Pushes Forward on Open Source Petition and Polling Proposals
Great news! This week, the DripDropz dev team made big strides on Milestone One for both our Open Source Petition and Open Source Gated Polling proposals in Project Catalyst Fund 10.
For the Petition proposal, we're neck-deep in the UI/UX implementation phase. After researching existing solutions, we mapped out user journeys and flows to optimize the experience. Right now, we're busy implementing mockups and prototypes to test with users. The goal is to have a slick, intuitive interface to create and sign petitions on Cardano.
As for the Polling proposal, we also kicked off the UI/UX design process. In addition to researching other implementations, we're sketching wireframes and crafting seamless user flows. The next step is bringing those ideas to life in Figma before we start coding.
We're energized by the progress so far and can't wait to get feedback from the community. With the design phase wrapping up soon, we'll move on to developing the backend logic and integrating the new features.
As always, huge thanks to the Catalyst community for supporting our mission to boost direct participation in Cardano governance. We look forward to launching these open source tools to empower more people worldwide. Stay tuned for more updates as we power through Milestone One!

Cardano Summit 2023
Our lead developer Andrew Westberg brought his wisdom to an insightful panel at last week's Cardano Summit 2023 in Dubai. The session, titled "Building DApps from Tools and Testing to Business Plans," convened industry experts to discuss best practices for DApp development on Cardano.
Moderated by Rudy Shoushany of DxTalks & CryptoTalks, the panel covered everything from development tools and languages to security audits and business models. Andrew emphasized the need to support many languages and frameworks to onboard the million developers goal.
"Cardano has this reputation of being all about Haskell and that's really not the case anymore," Andrew explained. He highlighted options like Python and Rust-like languages on-chain, with Java, JavaScript, and more for off-chain development. Letting teams use what they know allows more developers to build.
The panel also stressed the value of standards and abstractions that simplify the development process. Andrew advised checking Cardano Improvement Proposals (CIPs) so your DApp aligns with coming standards.
On security, he suggested an layered approach - open source, audits, and formal verification as needed based on risk level. Andrew also plugged Cardano developer documentation and his own YouTube channel for learning.
Overall, Andrew emphasized the welcoming Cardano community willing to help new developers avoid pitfalls. He demonstrated the collaborative ethos we strive for here at DripDropz. With knowledgeable leaders like Andrew guiding the way, we're sure to see many more quality DApps launch on Cardano soon.

Cardano SpacePlace #99 | Desert Experience
Recorded 11/09/2023
The Cardano SpacePlace podcast is back with episode 99 - Desert Experience. This week the SpacePlace crew recapped their recent trip to the Cardano Summit in Dubai.
The episode kicked off with the hosts reminiscing about the desert dining experience they had one night in the Arabian Desert. The highlight was when they lit a giant flaming Cardano sign on a hilltop, set to the Mortal Kombat theme song. Definitely an epic moment, though as they admitted, out of context it doesn't look great for an eco-friendly blockchain!
The hosts then brought on fellow Dubai attendees Adam Dean and Andrew Westberg to share their own experiences at the Cardano Summit. The overall impression was that it was a top notch event, with excellent talks and plenty of opportunities for networking.
A key takeaway was the excitement and openness to crypto adoption in Dubai. The local regulators even participated in panels, taking an approach of wanting to learn and develop thoughtful regulations. This welcoming environment enabled the community to have in-depth discussions about their projects, without needing to explain blockchain basics.
Some other highlights included the opulent setting, with luxury cars as the norm, extravagant malls, and high-end shops. The group also discussed some of the nuances around medical records and the need for encryption and selective access. And of course no SpacePlace episode is complete without some spirited debate around Catalyst voting!
All in all, episode 99 provided a recap of the Cardano Summit desert experience through the eyes of the SpacePlace hosts. If you missed catching it live, click below to head to YouTube and watch the full episode. And be sure to join us next week for the big episode 100!
