Learn the Process of Candidate Selection on DripDropz
Catalyst Circle version 3.5 asked DripDropz to assist them in running an on chain vote to replace the current Circle representatives with 5 new members. Thirty candidates have applied. It’s time to start choosing your next Catalyst Circle.
What is Circle?
If you’re new to Cardano, you may not be familiar with the Catalyst Circle. Formed at the end of Catalyst Fund 4, the Circle is a “Human Sensor Array” or more simply, a problem sensing organization that is designed to receive feedback from the community and report on it. The representatives for Circle v4 will continue to iterate on that process, and work to improve it.
Who are the Candidates?
The candidates who have stepped up as nominees each have a platform statement available from the Cardano forum. Each candidate was asked to describe their own areas of interest and responsibility. This is a change from the previous Circle representatives, who were asked to represent a specific role within the Cardano ecosystem, such as Stakepool Operators, or Tool makers.
Where can I Vote?
The vote will take place directly on the DripDropz platform. Please ensure that you are at https://dripdropz.io/vote in your web browser, prior to participating in the vote.
When can I vote?
You will be able to vote from December 6th, 2200 UTC until December 16th at 2145 UTC. The vote start will begin 15 minutes after the epoch turnover, to ensure that the snapshot is fully available. The interface will not accept new votes after 2145 UTC on the 16th. So we recommend starting at least an hour before the end of the epoch, to avoid any issues.
How much will it cost to vote?
You will need to pay transaction fees for a total of three transactions:
Transaction for Token Request.
Transaction for Sending the Token Back to sign the vote.
Transaction to return your change.
The total cost to vote will be less than a single ADA ($0.31 as of time of writing, less than a postage stamp!)
How do I Vote?
Using the DripDropz website, you will connect your light wallet, send a 2 ADA transaction to receive back a registration token. Once you have the registration token in your wallet, you will be presented with ballot choices. After completing your selections, you will be asked to sign a transaction that will return the registration token, and register your vote on chain.
After your vote is registered, you will receive back all of your change from the vote. The only cost to participate is the network fees paid directly to Cardano. DripDropz is offering this vote free of charge to support the community in its efforts of self governance.
We created a short video that teaches the process. You can watch that video here:
Abstaining
Abstaining from the vote allows you to register your interest in the vote, without stating an opinion about which candidates you think are best. If you choose this option you are agreeing with the majority opinion, and locking your voting power for this election. You may also choose the finish voting option at any step, and not select additional candidates. To utilize the maximum amount of your voting power, you will need to select 5 candidates.
Manual Voting
If you have the Yoroi wallet or the Daedalus wallet, or you use a hardware wallet, you won’t be able to use the light wallet connectors. In that instance, please follow the instructions for manual voting to register your choices. Be sure to follow the instructions explicitly, so that you can rest assured that your vote is counted, and your refund is processed quickly.
Conclusion
Using the DripDropz platform, you will be able to select 5 candidates for the Catalyst Circle version 4. The vote will run for 10 days, and will be stored entirely on chain. We appreciate the trust the community has placed in our team to handle this vote for you, and we look forward to seeing the results and welcoming our new Catalyst Circle Representatives.
